Chic Valentine Makeup Look
Hello beautiful!
Welcome to Everyday Effortless Beauty Series by Klava Z, which is a weekly makeup series showing you how to do flawless, fresh, fun and natural looks for everyday life.
As I promised in my last blog post this week I’m sharing the second look I created for Valentines Day called Chic Valentine.
I wanted to create two makeup looks for two different girls. First Sweet Valentine makeup look is a softer, girlie makeup in all pink tones that I imagined a shy romantic girl would like to wear. This second look – Chic Valentine is for a woman who is confident and wants a bit of sizzle to her look but still polished and not look like she is trying too hard (which she has no time to do anyway :). By the way, I almost got that dress that the ladies at Vincent boutique provided us with for the shoot of this look, I loved it so much! Unfortunately, (or fortunately for my wallet) they didn’t have my size π Take a look at the picture below – it’s a classy sexy perfection that complemented the look perfectly!
THE LOOK
The Chic Valentine look is about creating smoldering alluring eyes that stand out with a smokey liner all around them. It’s the kind of toned down smokey eyes that makes you think “wow, beautiful eyes!” not “wow, great smokey eye makeup!”. And it’s so easy to do this Eye makeup as you will see in my technique breakdown below. The brown smokey eyes are complemented with a nude glossy pout and a slight definition of the cheeks. This makeup look is elegant with a hint of sexy – a perfect Valentine’s Day date look if you are going out to a nice restaurant. It will go so well with some long and full lashes, if you want to learn how to get some long and full lashes then click this link here to find out more, you can learn how to create the most beautiful Valentine’s Day looks!
SKIN
I created a smooth evened out skin finish on the model’s face using a cream foundation with medium coverage. I tend to use foundations with a bit more coverage for an evening makeup. I defined cheeks with a matte peachy brown colour blush by contouring them rather then applying blush in a traditional way. Which means I swiped it gently under the cheekbones instead of going on the apples of the cheeks. This method of blush application makes the cheekbones stand out, creating more defined structure and gives the whole face a more polished look. It’s a good idea to set the foundation with a light dusting of transparent powder in the middle of the face (the T-zone) to ensure that the makeup stays flawless in the areas prone to get shiny.
EYES
I perfected brows with a brow pencil for a more clean finish. All over the eyelid I applied an eyeshadow in taupe brown colour as a base.
TECHNIQUE TIP – SMOKEY EYELINER
This is one of my favourite ways to create an elegant smokey eye look in no time at all and with only one product! How great is that?!
I used a chubby kohl eye pencil and rimmed the eyes with it all around in a thick liner. It is important to choose an eye pencil that has a soft creamy texture and is easy to blend, like most kohl formulas are. Since the pencil is chubby already I was able to achieve a thicker eyeliner very quickly by doing back and forth motion in short strokes around the eye so that the liner went right into the lash line. For that extra sizzle on the eyes I extended the liner in a sexy feline flick leading from the bottom of the eye and connecting the top liner with it.
Then I took a pencil brush with a pointy tip and smudged the edges of the liner all over with the same back and forth motion.
Two minutes, ok maybe three, and you are done!

LIPS
With the focus being on the eyes all I needed to do is slick on a nude shiny gloss for luscious looking lips.
PRODUCTS
Burberry Eye Colour Cream in Mink #102. I was very excited when these eyeshadows launched a few months ago. They are my everyday favourites to use on myself. They have a unique cream-to-powder finish that is super smooth and easy to blend. It is also really long-lasting and the only eyeshadow that I dare to apply without an eye primer first because of how well it applies and lasts. This colour is medium taupe brown and is sure to become a staple colour in anybody’s makeup bag.
Burberry Effortless Blendable Kohl in Chestnut Brown #02. It is a thick very pigmented crayon in a creamy formula that applies so effortlessly without pulling or tugging on skin and beautiful for creating liner or smokey eyes. After being applied its’ texture stays creamy for easy blending and if you want longevity, I would recommend setting with a powder eye shadow.
MAC Pencil Brush #219. As the name suggests, the fibres of this brush are gathered into a pencil-shaped tip. It really is ideal for blending eye liner into eye shadow to create a smoky-looking eye and can also be used for a more precise shading on the lid or in the eye crease.
MAC Lipglass in Prrr. Ah, good old Prrr! It has been around for a long time and is still a perfect choice for a nude pinky-peach pout. I reach out for this formula of a lipgloss when I’m looking for a pigmented product with a high-gloss, glass-like finish. It is sticky feeling but that’s what makes it so long-wearing.
MAC Blush in Gingerly. This sheer toned blush is not as pigmented as other MAC blush formulas, which makes it easier to apply without going overboard. It’s warm peachy bronze colour is lovely on medium golden skin tones. Lighter skin lovelies – apply with caution and blend well!
GLAMMED UP VERSION OF THE LOOK
If you are looking for a look with a stronger impact (read sexier) then it’s quite easy to achieve it with a few tweaks of this makeup. Apply a black long-wearing eyeliner in the waterline and false lashes that flare out on the outer corners to accentuate the alluring almond shape created by the cat eyeliner even more. Bam! Instant drama on the eyes. Finish with patting a warm shade of red lipstick on the lips and then blotting once to take off a bit of pigment for a softer, not in-your-face-red-lips, finish. Still looking effortless, still looking chic, just more fierce.
I don’t know about you but I want to go and try this out on myself right now! It’s been awhile since I have done strong makeup look on myself. π If you do try this look, I would love to see it! Just a few days left till the Valentine’s Day! I still don’t have any plans, as I’m always so last minute. However, I’m excited about an excuse to do something with my husband, just the two of us! It doesn’t happen often anymore as our life is tailored to appease a 2-year-old cutie in our family. Whatever your plans are for this Valentine’s Day and whatever you choose to do; whether it’s a romantic date with someone who makes your heart flutter or a fun outing with your girlfriends or a pampering night with yourself – I hope you have an amazing day filled with love!
